We had been searching PetFinder for a few months looking for the perfect addition. We had made a few calls on other dogs, but they all had a turn-off that we weren't prepared to deal with. We were actually second in line for Odie, but we were deemed better parents and were given the chance to adopt him. We drove to Blue Earth at the big Green Giant statue to pick him up. He had been found in a southern Iowa state park wandering around with a female coon hound and somehow managed to make his way to the Minnesota Persian Cat Rescue and into PetFinder.
We had done some research on how to introduce dogs and decided to take them for a walk separately and meet up at the park (neutral territory) a few blocks away. Brandon immediately took Odie for the walk before Baylee even knew we were home. We both walked the dogs to the park. They instantly started playing and running around with each other. They hit it off! It didn't take long for us to decide to walk them home and introduce Odie to our house. Baylee had no issues with him coming home with her and acted like he had been her brother forever. Eva - well, she was apprehensive but didn't puke or act out like she did when Baylee came home. It was a super successful beginning for the Baby O.
So we have had him for two years and are very glad he is our little man. He is a very sweet, loving dog who balances our family.
Their very first picture together.
