Memorial Day Weekend

Brandon and I both had a four-day weekend for the holiday.  We had no big plans other than to keep Everett entertained and get some stuff done around the house.
On Friday, while Brandon cleaned our carpet, Everett and I went for a walk, played outside and went to the library.  When he woke up from his nap, we visited the Zollman Zoo.  He really didn't care about the animals, and thought it was more fun to push around his stroller.  It was still warm and sunny out when we got home, so Brandon filled his pool up for him.  He wore swim trunks that I bought him last fall, and they are a bit long, but he is going to wear them anyway.
Saturday was another eventful day.  The morning included dog walks, the park and playing outside.  After naps, we went to Rochester to shop a little.  Everett played in the mall play place while I tried to find some work shirts.  Then we went to Sports Authority to buy me new shoes and also found a balance bike for Everett that was on clearance.  Enter major meltdown when we tried to pay for it and when we put it in the trunk.  He could not stop thinking about that bike.  Target was a disaster with a few major meltdowns that almost left me to do the shopping by myself.  We did manage to find a helmet that fit, but he refused to let us try shoes on him, so we left without crossing that off our list.  I ended up ordering him some online, anyway.  We got home with enough time for Brandon to put the bike together, but we discovered that his little legs aren't long enough to reach the ground.  He was frustrated and tired, so once we coaxed him upstairs, Brandon hid the bike.  He found a lowering kit online, so hopefully that will work.  We try not to talk about bikes for now.
We skipped church on Sunday since there wasn't nursery care and our normal pastor wasn't preaching.  Just dog walks and the school playground that day.  He got to wear his new sunglasses.
On Monday we were at a complete loss of what we could do to keep little man entertained.  We decided to take a trip to Grandpa and Grandma's so he could look at tractors and trucks and we could go to Sibley Park/Zoo.  Everett was in heaven playing around in the driver's seats.  He didn't go for any rides because he doesn't like that they're loud.  Maybe next time.  Sibley Park was also a hit with him because of the awesome playground.  He did a lot of climbing and sliding.
The long weekend was fun, but we were all happy to go back to work and daycare!
